The Global Distributors Collective (GDC) held its first ever last mile distribution member event this week, to raise the profile of the distribution sector and companies reaching the last mile with innovative technology and programs. Held in Kampala, Uganda, the two-day event included mini-academies and boot camps for members to cultivate solutions on specific topics, such as sales force effectiveness and retention, logistics and marketing. Additional discussions were held surrounding investment readiness and access to finance, with input from expert financiers from GET.invest, the Clean Cooking Alliance and SIMA Funds and others.
Designed in collaboration with last mile distribution companies, the convening brought partners together to network, share knowledge, build impactful partnerships for the future, and explore opportunities to help accelerate businesses. GDC members help make life changing products more accessible
and affordable to some of the hardest to reach communities around the world. By bringing together members and fostering collaboration, the event demonstrated that providing opportunities for peer learning and support are key to building the profile and impact of the last mile distribution sector. The event was made possible by the UK Department for International Development, P4G and IBAN and is conceived in collaboration with the Miller Center for Social Entrepreneur and USEA.
